Help with wireless connection

Hi Guys,

To be honest i have no clue where to even start. Had NTL BB installed today which is great, but how do i go about connecting this to my laptop? I.e. what equipment do i need. Just a router? It's cable modem by the way.

Any help would be great

:welcome: As Scrubs says, plenty of info around. To answer the immediate question, assuming your laptop already has wireless connectivity, you just need a wireless router (but NOT a wireless ADSL modem/router as these are incompatible with cable).

Thanks for the replies,

I have a network card for my laptop already. So would something like the linksys wireless-G broadband router be okay (for my NTL cable modem which is connected to the desktop by an ethernet cable) ? Any other recommendations? And all i would need is the router, nothing else?

i have a linksys WRT54GS. The wireless was appaulling so i have mine hard wired now. However it might have been the wireless card that was useless

Not familiar with that model, but as long as it has at least one wired LAN port (most have 4), then yes. There will be a WAN Ethernet port which you connect to the cable modem. You then connect the desktop to one of the wired LAN ports, and connect the laptop wirelessly. I'm assuming you have a WIRELESS network card or built-in wireless interface on the laptop.

[Edit] ...and look what's just been posted!
