I've got a set of these, well worth the extra £35 extra on your budget ;)

You might also be able to find these if you hunt around (ebay)

Whatever you do, avoid force feedback sticks, there's not a single one on the market that's worth using, it's an unnecessary gimmick.

I use a El Cheapo ST50 Joystick, is the one you personally own Bifta, a seperate one for rudder control and one for the other controls? if so how complex is it to use in other games, say 3rd party flight simulators/space simulators?

Or for a bit more, you could get a proper-styled flight yoke like a real pilot. Depends on how much realism you want.

There's no rudder control with that however (normally assigned to the twist on a joystick), the rudder pedals unfortunately up the price to over 4 times his budget. (having said that, I've just ordered one)

My old man is into FS so my old joystick will be a wee present for him.

Is this the same joystick but wireless:

Cyborg Evo Wireless PC Flight Stick

If so I'll get it! ;)

EDIT: Looks like it is!

See Saitek's full product range here.

I just bought one of these £50 sticks from Amazon marketplace for £22! :D

I can't speak highly enough of Saitek, the pad I own has lasted nearly 6 years of abuse and not one fault with it! :)

I have there cheapest Joystick the Saitek ST50, and it does me well, plan on a upgrade to one Bifta mentioned when I can afford it ( just bought a tft ).

Re: Joystick recommendations

Well my "Cyborg Evo Wireless PC Flight Stick" turned up and looks the biz, esp the wireless usb key that slots in the base of the stick :tu: handy!

However :( ...I don't seem to be able to calibrate the thing! and when I try to take off, i.e. pull back, nowt happens.... it's just not registering that I'm yanking back my stick (now now!..I'm still talking about my game joystick! ;) )

Anyway, anyone know how I can calibrate it? I've been into the Game Controllers in the CP but it doesn't allow me to calibrate it...and the button in FS2004 only links to the Game Controllers option in the CP...

Any ideas?

Install the latest drivers?

Re: Joystick recommendations

I have a issue with my ST50, where it pulls to the left all time just a little about enough to bank the plane to 10degrees.

Yet on calibration it looks perfect.

Any Ideas?
