Going wireless any advice or recs

Going wireless as we now have 2nd PC in the house.
Have sourced this router for £42.95.
http://www.ovistel.com/Products/airlive_wl5424ar.htm
I have used one of their combined ADSL/Modem products for somebody on ADSL & works well.
Has anybody used this product or has a better recommendation?
Also advice on what steps have to be taken with the setup for ntl would be appreciated.
Thanks

You can get the Linksys WRT54G (http://www.linksys.com/products/prod...id=35&prid=601) for about the same price at Overclockers.

BTW, Linksys are the consumer division of Cisco, and are very well liked by various forum members (although I don't have one, I hear they are excellent). Cisco provide the routers and switches that enable a large chunk of the Internet.

Alternatively, you could have a look at one of the 8 billion threads we currently have on wireless router recommendations/advice! ;)

Have done thanks.
Quite fancy Belkin Gear reasonably priced.
Looks like.
1. Connect Router to Modem.
2. Re-boot Modem so it aquire IP Address.
3. PC's will then aquire IP from Router Via DHCP & should be on-line.
4. Bingo

Just about.

Turn the whole lot off first though, that way the modem will get an IP, then the router, then the PC (turn them on in that order).

For what it's worth I've got the Linksys WRT54G which I would def recommend. Don't buy one with an ADSL modem built in though, it won't work with Cable.
Good luck.

Almost...
1. Power off modem, router and PC
2. Connect router to modem
3. Power on modem. Allow time to stabilise.
4. Power on router, allow time for router to acquire external IP from modem.
5. Power on PC. Allow time for PC to acquire 'local' IP from router.

Also, remember to set up wireless security, as per advice elsewhere on the forum.

Cheers Guy's.
May go for the Ovistel kit as they had an offer last week including PCI card for £43. Emailed them & they will still do it at that price;)
