Online Security

Many American online computer users are unaware that choice of browser affects Internet security, and few switch browsers even when they know the risk, a Norwegian study said Monday.

Isn't any browser at risk ?

Reading between the lines of that report would suggest that Internet explorer is most at risk because it is the most widely used browser.
I am sure that if Opera and Mozilla were as popular, the risks would be the same if not worse.

I used to use Mozilla, but went back to IE a few months ago.

IE is still very insecure, it doesn't matter if firefox would be the same if it was as popular but its not and is more secure, even if it is for an odd reason

Of course that report is biased...

Quote:

The Oslo-based browser-maker Opera Software ASA, which touts its own browser as being one of the most secure, released a survey of 2,835 online users in the United States...
Nuff said. I switched off at that point.

By virtue of nihi support of ActiveX, and the fact it's more difficult to add BHOs sans authorisation, I'd hazard that in that respect, FX will ALWAYS be better than IE. In terms of holes, it's probably as vulnerable, but FX holes will be quicker fixed because of the open-source nature of the browser.

Plus I like FX. It's fast and easy to get themes/extensions for it. I also like the interface.
