Changing NIC card speeds

Using Windows XP is it possible to manually set the speed of my NIC cards to 10 or 100mb, and if so, what's the procedure or is it card specific?

You could try
Right click "My Computer"
select properties
Click the hardware tab
click device manager
Expand the network adaptor node
double click on the adaptor to adjust
In the new window that appears select the advanced tab
Look for the "speed and duplex" entry
Adjust as you wish but if you select the wrong settings you can seriously impede your networking.

Re: Changing NIC card speeds

Thank you paul.

I have a network connection that works for about 3-4 minutes before dying on the client PC ( see my post here http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/sh...ad.php?t=28733 ). I have been told that it *may* be that my NIC cards are out of sync and to try manually setting them at the same speeds.

Cheers,
