IP addy on pda etc etc
Hi all, quick question, been wondering about this for a while and now I gotta know ;) I know that some members have been banned by various means etc etc, IP addy being one, but how do you know if someone logs in from a mobile device, what I mean is, does a mobile / pda / or whatever give an IP address and if so, is it the same IP, when I'm on my travels and log in from my xda, does it show as being logged in from a mobile and if so is it the same one each time.
Just curious  __________________ Hope you can make out what I mean, I just re-read it and my heads spinning ..lol |
Re: IP addy on pda etc etc
IP banning is a difficult area, seeing as most people have dynamic IPs. Nothing to stop someone re-registering when their SACM gets a different IP. TBH the best defence against persistent trolls is vigilance. A mod's life is not an easy one. :)

Re: IP addy on pda etc etc
I would expect that the mobile device would have an IP address from the block that the provide of the service would have purchased to use. E.g. If you are using a mobile device on a service provided by O2 you would have an IP address from the block of IP addresses that they purchased to use with their mobile phones etc.

Re: IP addy on pda etc etc
Anything connected to the Internet needs an IP. Be it a computer, printer, PDA, camera, fridge etc.

soft reset ..... same as a conventional pc restart and a hard reset, like a format of a hard drive, lose all installed apps etc etc, but it returns to factory set up. Now another forum I frequent ( xda-developers.com ) they have a few roms for the xda, sort of a software upgrade, I'm thinking of going for it and just wondered how far I could screww up the internals of my xda. |
Re: IP addy on pda etc etc
You could make it not boot.
