router probs...
Hiya, I'm on BY 3Mb and use an ASUS WL500g wireless router
I'm trying to connect a PC via ethernet, and a powerbook via wireless. the problem is that if the PC is on the powerbook cant detect a wireless signal, (it picks up my next door neighbours fine!), but when PC is off I can connect to my router through wireless no problem. the router is set to deliver dynamic ip's through DHCP. any help appreciated |
Re: router probs...
What happens if you connect the powerbook wirelessly first and then start up the PC - does the powerbook loose the connection?
Does moving the powerbook around have any effect - ie, do you have the PC's CRT between the router and powerbook? How many IP addresses are in the DHCP range - usually about 50, but if the range is set to 192.168.100.100 -> 192.168.100.100 (only one address) only the first computer will be served! HTH |
Re: router probs...
fixed it, thanks for your reply though, the PC was set up in a 'DMZ', and hence had a fixed IP, this conflicted with the Powerbook.
At least - when I take the PC out of the DMZ I can run both together... Thanks though! |
