garden fork through cable..

Some friends of ours, believe that their gardener has stuck the garden fork through the cable in the garden, since they have lost all services, since they've been.

Would telewest charge to fix this, does anyone know - if so - how much?

I suspect they would charge. If the gardner had damaged the cable they should claim off of his/her public liability insurance (in which case the cost doesn't matter that much :))

Chances are there will be some sort of fee to be paid as it was potentially caused by someone who was employed by the account holder to work on their property rather than a representative of Telewest.

Best thing to do would be to phone up and ask...

I would expect any company running cables or pipes through a garden area to bury them at such a depth or provide protection for them so that normal gardening work wouldn't be a problem. If the companies installers have been too lazy to do the work properly then the company, not the customer, should be expected to pay for any necessary remedial work.

NTL never dig down far when laying cables.
Often you'l see the green plastic pipes resurfacing through the flower beds unfortunately.

Its worth checking if it does have any protection on it (green plasstic pipe) this would nor mally just bounce the spade of it. If it has been laid bair and not doug down to a resonble level (normally done with a thing calle a mole i beleive) then I owuld say that it it should be telewest who are liable...

well, an engineer is coming this afternoon - they're going to play it dumb and just say that it's stopped working all of a sudden... we shall see...

Which it did.Anything else is just speculation after they aren't sure that the gardener is too blame. It may just be coincidental after all. ;)

hopefully they will repull for nothing , if they dont then the minimum will be a service call charge , the father in law cut his with a spade , fortunately it was just the phone connection , i spliced it and it worked fine until they decided to get digital tv and the install engineer reckoned there was a problem with the cable so they repulled it for free :D :D :D :D

Well my cable runs over the top of the path edging stone then about 6" under the lawn and about 3" under the garden boarder:Yikes: . I'm for ever digging the cable up when doing the garden, so if I cut through it I wouldn't be paying.

I nearly went through the NTl cable today.
It's about 2" under the surface, hidden under a flat rock in the garden.

It wouldn't have bothered me too much if I had done as I don't use it :D
