3 ways to get Windows XP x64 Edition
1) From Microsoft, right now: (exchange for 32-bit)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/6...e/default.mspx Drawbacks - 1) Your old 32-bit license will be invalid if you choose to upgrade for free. 2) Download the trial version then buy (or exchange 32-bit for) the full version later: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/6...ion/trial.mspx Drawbacks - 2) You have to install twice. 3) Buy it from a shop: http://froogle.google.co.uk/froogle?..._s&sa=N&tab=wf Drawbacks - 3) You have to pay around £100 for it, and also purchase hardware (like a hard disk) at the same time. |

handy :tu:
Just a note for anyone using ntl ambit cable modem's via USB... the drivers will not install on the 64bit version, so get a NIC!!! |
Re: 3 ways to get Windows XP x64 Edition

LOL I am thinking about the upgrade to Xp Pro 32bit as I will await the 64bit version to be entering Sp1 to ensure some of the bugs are worn out.

Re: 3 ways to get Windows XP x64 Edition
I'd also say it isn't worth the upgrade ... yet, it's no faster, there are no 64 bit games (the far cry patch has nothing that wouldn't run just as well on 32 bit OS's if Crytek decided to release it for them, it's nothing more than a sales pitch for AMD) and the drivers have a long way to go.

Re: 3 ways to get Windows XP x64 Edition
I know that the system generally runs faster, and it is more reponsive - due to Windows itself and most processes running in 64-bit.
