Upgrading from analogue to digital tv
Hi all,
Long time lurker, first time poster... Anyway, I'm getting my analogue tv service upgraded to digital later this week. Currently I have the one cable coming in which goes into a 2 way splitter with one cable going to my cable modem and the other to my analogue STB. Can anyone tell me if the digital STB will require another physical cable into the house or will it reuse the exisiting analogue STB cable? Thanks! |
Re: Upgrading from analogue to digital tv
It will re-use the same cable.
And :welcome: to CF, nice to hear from you at last. :D |
Re: Upgrading from analogue to digital tv
Thanks Chris!
So it will be a straightforward swap of STB's then? The reason I ask is that the cable point is in the corner of the room behind my big heavy widescreen TV and hi-fi - if I can avoid having to move it all to gain access then I'm happy! :D |
Re: Upgrading from analogue to digital tv
Well, he might have to fiddle about with the street cabinet a bit, but in your house it should just be a matter of swapping the boxes, unless for some reason he feels the need to give you some shiny new cable.

Re: Upgrading from analogue to digital tv
You may need the thicker cable if signal levels aren't good enough and you experience lots of picture break-ups, but thats only if :)
