5.1 works with music but not Half life 2 or CSS
 

Any ideas?

I only get centre and sub from HL2 qnd the css test.

what's it set up as in the game? Don't have either, so I can't say where the setting is... just have a look around...

what sound card are you using & how have you connected to the speakers.

I presume for music you have a lead from the cd/dvd player to the sound card?

I had this using a AC97 with a 5.1 speaker system in Halo I found by enabling hardware acceleration in the system settings within the game and the EAX system when I got past the intro to the main menu and in the game I had 5.1 sound.

I've got the front three working but not the back two.

I couldn't care less, HL2 is astonishingly good, especially on my new rig!

Apparently the 3.63 drivers are what I'm after. Will get them at some other time.

Im using the AC97 on my Gigabyte board and HL2 sounds fantastic with my 4.1 Surround!
