Channel 5 RF frequencies
Just got a new 32" WS TV. The picture on all five terrestial channels via the arial used to be perfect on the old TV even C5, I can see the mast at Winter Hill from my lounge.
With the new telly, C5 is not as clear via the arial (BBC 1 to C4 are okay ). To be honest I hardly ever watch C5 and I know I can view it perfectly via the STB digital signal, but you know how these little things can bug you.;) The TV is currently tuned to 687.25 MHz for C5, is it broadcast on any other frequencies that I could try. |

I think thats the only tranmitter that carries ch5 there is a relay at Oldham but i don't think it had ch5. My brother used to live in Shaw towards Buckstones Rd and he couldn't get CH5 at all.:( If you can see the transmitter then you should get it perfect. Make sure all your connections are tight.:)

Also you may be able to get a better Channel 5 signal by manually tuning your TV to the Channel 5 signal. |
As usual, the beeb is a good source of info in this area.

Thanks for all the replies folks. Altis those links are just the job. It confirms that 687.25 MHz is the correct frequency for channel 48. When C5 first went on air I had problems with the picture long before I had Ntl Digital. BBC1 to C4 where perfect yet C5 was poor. I eventually traced the fault to a poor coaxial connection. As Martin says that could be the cause of the fault once again as all the cables have been disturbed for the new TV.
