Home & Leisure / Discovery Channels On Anologue TV

I pay for the family pack on NTL anologue and at 4pm every day, the Home and Leisure channel automatically switches to Discovery channel. Is this right and should it happen?

This is the correct behaviour for the analogue versions of Discovery and H&L.

Why is this and is there any way I can overide it (other than switching to digital)???

As I see it, I pay for the family pack which includes Discovery and H&L. But actually it doesn't, it only includes part of the scheduling for both channels  Not fair, me thinks and not what it says on the NTL website!!!

discovery & H&L are not the only 'timeshare' channels

trouble/bravo
travel/M&M are others - Challenge TV & Paramount Comedy, as well, but I can't remember what they share with.

also UK Gold Documentary just goes off air at 1600

All I can say is that it has always been the case, but I agree the advertising does not make this clear. :(

So, who or what is responsible for this 'timeshare' ??? Could NTL give me both channels or is it because I am on anologue and its not possible??

NTL have only so much available bandwidth and analogue channels take up more than digital, so they spread the load by the 'timeshare' method. (IIRC one analogue channel takes 8x more bandwidth than one digital channel)

Don't know about trading standards - why not give it a go, if it gets NTL to change the way they describe the availability of channels on analogue, it can only be a good thing :tu:
