DTS woes
I'm trying to get DTS tracks on dvds to work over powerdvd/wmp.
In powerdvd all i get is the information where it shows you the codec and the bitrate is the codec 'DTS 5.0' but no bitrate. Checked in the information section in the Config and it says that the audio device is not in use. WMP just outputs nothing either. WinDVD does, but i hate it with passion and i think i got some filter that converts it to ac3 on the fly anyway, which is not what i want. I've tried installing various codecs/packs to no luck. Can anybody help..? :( |
Re: DTS woes
your sound card is the problem here or so i believe,do the tracks has dd and does that play ok? it could also be a problem with decoder software what version of power dvd do you have?
I believe media player takes its software dvd decoder from powerdvd if you uninstall power dvd maybe media player will use windvds decoder |
Re: DTS woes
Which soundcard do you have?
If you have an Audigy 2 it supports DTS anyway so you can just set PowerDVD to "SPDIF" in the Audio tab. |
Re: DTS woes
I *think* you need PowerDVD deluxe (or an Amp that can handle DTS signals and is connected digitally) to use DTS discs.

Re: DTS woes
Nope, I use an Audigy 2 and an OEM copy of PowerDVD - it passed the audio stream directly to the soundcard when used in SPDIF mode so I can even use DTS-ES.

Re: DTS woes
Sorted it. Installed the trial version - noticed it had dts support, clj deluxe version only had dolby support, but normal deluxe supports both.
I wasn't using the SPDIF passthrough, wanted to use the built-in decoder, as i wanted to use Dolby Headphone with the DTS tracks (sounds better than the dolby always :erm: ) Thanks for your help all. |
