Your past PC / Console systems

Right well we havent had one of these topics for quite a while so its about time we cast our minds back to the first PC we ever owned.
List here all the PC's you have owned and any consoles too.
What was your first machine that launched your happiness / fustration with the world of computers....

Mine are:

First remember using an old BBC computer back in the 80's that had the good old 5 1/4 inch floppy's that would corrupt soooo very easily, and a huge square monitor.
Then finally that got binned and I got my first PC, a 486 SX 33 in 1992.
It was my first real PC and had a 170mb Hard drive and 4mb RAM which cost the earth back then.
Over the years this got updated to a 486 DX 100, before then being upgraded to a Pentium MMX 200Mhz.
This PC then died and was eventually replaced with a AMD K62 500mhz which I still use for Internet and E-mail though it is very old now.

Plus this year, I built my first ever beast of a new PC, my P4 3.4ghz, ATI graphics card, Asus motherboard, with a massive 19" monitor, DVDRW, and lots of cool things inside.

As for consoles:

Started out with the original gameboy, before getting a Snes which is still working actually. A good game of Donkey Kong on that is quality. Then left the gaming life for a while before getting a Sega Dreamcast. RIP. It was a good console even though it had a short life.
Now currently got a Gamecube.

Ah the good old days.

First machine was a homebuilt rs machine that had tank battle , pong and a motorcycle jump

I then had many years of fun with atari both the 800 computer and the 2600 console,I used the atari as a word processor for years

First pc well I was a bit late A 300 cyrix (clocked at 233) 32 meg of ram,2.1 gig hdd cd driver onboard gfx upto 4 meg (wow) it did come with a 15 inch crt and a rediculasly expensive extended garrentee :)
Tried to upgrade this and watched others do it,then I desided to build my own in about 2000, 1200 Athlon 128 ram 20 gig hdd cd drive 32 meg gfx geforce2,
cost me £500 quid, sold this 2 weeks later for £600 and the cycle began for me

For the Computers:
Used a BBC in school but had spectrum 48k then a +2
Moved onto a 486 SX 20, 110 MB HD, 1MB Video Ram
Things were quiet for a while then I moved onto a PIII 600Mhz a P4 1.7GHz and finally my current Athlon 64 3200+. This little beauty was built myself and does the job brilliantly.
I have just bought an Apple iBook which makes me think the next upgrade will be to an Apple instead of another PC.

For the consoles:
A Sega gamegear.
Playstation 1
Saturn
N64
Dreamcast
PS2
XBox

Out of those the Xbox and Dreamcast are the only ones still used. The others have been ebay'd off.

Hmm - (dredges up memories!)

At school,
PET 2000
ICL Mainframe (via teletype & punched tape :Yikes: )

At home, Dragon 64, ZX81 & ZX Spectrum.

At Uni, various IBM XT clones and Prime mainframes

At work, started with an IBM XT and an HP 150. First laptop was a Tosh B/W 486/66 (iirc).

First home PC was an HP Pavilion Pentium 166 MMX (48Mb EDO RAM) - still being used by Mother-in-law:Yikes:

Then Pentium 3 500 (my Mother has this one), Athlon XP 1600 and now my A64 3000.

Consoles - early Atari system, Gameboy, GB Colour, GB Advance and XBox.

Re: Your past PC / Console systems

Ah good to see there are atleast a few Dreamcasters still around then.
I even hear they still make games for it in Japan.

As for PC's.... I cant believe how much Ram used to cost. I remember paying about £100 for just 8mb extra. Madness.
And if I had my original 170mb Hard drive right now it wouldnt even handle a few seconds full screen video let alone Windows XP.
I used to run Windows 3.11.....how old is that now !!!
I used to get really fustrated as my icons would love to randomely change position.

Started on a BBC model B at school in the mid 80's...playing 'hunt the wumpus' and 'star trek' and programming in basic and machine code and saving onto 8.5" floppies.........then we went over to 5.25" floppies :disturbd:
Vic-20 at home at the same time.

Mac at uni with a massive 40 mb hdd..........thought it was the bees knees :D

First PC was a pentium 200 mmx with a 2gb hdd

Athlon 1200--upgraded to 2100xp

......and you all know what I have atm :D

Hmmm, its tough to recall....

Used to mess about with the old BBC/Acorn Electrons etc at school, I remember when we first got e-mail and thought it was the mutt's nuts.

Home computers;
C64 (hooray!)
Some old PC, with something between a 100 and 200 MHz processor from a dodgy kid at school.
An even dodgier Time Athlon XP2200+ which proved to be completely impossible to upgrade in any way, so shortly after got taken to bits.
And now an Athlon XP3000+

Consoles;
I inherited an Atari 2600 from an uncle initially.
Followed by Sega Master System (Mark II)
Sega Mega Drive (Mark I)
Playstation
Dreamcast
XBox

Spectrum 48K
Amstrad 2286
Escom 486 DX66MHz (upgraded to 486 DX100 MHz 'overdrive')
Apricot 486 DX200MHz
Self Built Cyrix 233 MHz

Self built AMD XP2000 - upgraded to AMD XP2600

OS - Windows 2.0, Windows 3.1, Windows 3.1 'For Workgroups', Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98se, Windows XP pro.

The most I paid for RAM was nearly £200 for 8meg :Yikes:

- the only 'console' I ever had was one of those Binatone ones with either 'pong' type tennis or 'football' using rotary controllers :D

Consoles:
Hmm well atm I have Xbox x3 , the ps2 is defunct really its laser has gone dodgy, the DC rarely comes out to play anymore but that was a little quicky cheep 2nd hand purchase as I missed soul calibur.
Before DC when everyone else was playing the crapy gfx of psx or worse it wasnt really a console but a room filled with arcade games. I have no clue now of how much equipment went thru my hands but it was at least 1/2 a millions worth. please dont ask for a list I cudnt list the lot.

Comps:
Past
Amstrad PPC640 DF + modem this is still kicking about somewhere but its not quite in 1 piece
Atari ST 1024 or whatever lived with me for a while
Apricot Xens 386 16sx now binned
Rock 486 25SX This got expanded upgraded etc etc so many times today its a total of 6 comps ranging from an amd 1.4 TB for a router to a 3.2 prescot Intel system as my main user box. Theres also a reasoanble bundle of older parts no longer used strewn around the house in varous hidey holes.
XP and suse are my current OS's
apart from the redhat server I share with a friend in usa

Im really more into hardware and networking than writing software but I do know html pretty good, and mildy know php mysql tcl bash scripting.

Re: Your past PC / Console systems

i've had, roughly in order:
amstrad 8088 (with 2 floppy drives!)
NES
Opus 386sx/16, 40 MB HDD, 4MB ram and a 512K svga card (was top-notch at the time...)
Tiny P120, 16MB ram, 1GB HDD

From then on i built my own, cyrix 166+ upped to P200MMX. Ditched it all for a K6-2/450 with 192MB ram (which still runs XP brilliantly).

Then i got a T-bird 1.4 and a pre-production sample MSI KT266 board (S/N 00000008, iirc...) and some amazing ram that still runs at 200MHz DDR to this day, 5 years later...
nowadays i run an XP2000+. still got a GeForce 2 GTS, should probably upgrade it soon...

First computer I ever bought - this one (don't ask about spec - I bought it from Tiny 3 years ago and that's all I'll commit myself to  )

Games console - I've never owned one! :mis: (But who knows if I chuck out enough hints......... ;)
As you can tell I'm relatively new to all this pc and gaming stuff (but learning rapidly I like to think!)
