Back-Up Software
Hi,
I am looking for a piece of software to back up specific folders to another drive (My Docs etc). I would like it to run at start up and close down, and I would like an exact copy of the original file, not some inaccessible, compressed one that "only" that piece of software can read. The only one I have found that syncs at start-up and closure is an old copy of Powerquest back-up, but this uses a strange type of compressed file and didn't restore very well :( Anyone got any ideas?? ALL suggestions gratefully recieved :tu: :tu: I have tried so far::: Back-up made simple back-up magic drive back-up Genie back-up manager Power Back-up |

Bit pricey (us$30) but really good, quick, never had any problems with it. It's got a scheduler which includes running operation on logon, logoff etc, you can get plugins for backin up Outlook Express files too. |
Re: Back-Up Software
Here is a free solution to your problem. I use it and it works very well indeed.

SYNCBACK
This is by far the best I have tried. And it is free. There is a Pro version available but I can't imagine what extra features you would need above the free version. This will do all that you want, although you may have to create a simple command line to run it on startup. There are some helpful forums for this application and some people have posted batch files that you run on shutdown. These batch files will run the backup/synchronisation and then shutdown the PC. This seems a far better point at which to do the backup. Hope this helps. |
