Dell PC Query?

I have just bought a Dell PC. The PC has a 80Gb drive which has been configured as a single partition:mad: .I would like to split the disk and have 2 separate partiton :) (1 for operatin system information and program files and the other for storing data).

The Dell Pc comes with a PC restore facility. Basically you boot up the PC press CTRL+F11 and you can reimage your PC back to the state as it was delivered to you ( I think that this information is stored on the MBR). I intend to use GHOST to ghost the drive and the use partiton magic to split the disk. My question is that will GHOST backup everything including what is on the MBR. Also, is this a good way to go about this or can someone suggest otherwise.

Re: Dell PC Query?

:welcome: If your using ghost you will need to initially ghost to a dvd/cd's

As long as the system is sound when you make your ghost image, you will not need dells back up anymore.

In my experience if the o/s and install backup from dell is on hdd, it will be on an unknown partition,

If your happy your ghost image is good, I would either delete all partitions including backup ,and then repartition as 2 partitions or ,just delete ntfs partition and create 2 other partitions
Then of course use you ghost image cd/dvd to boot pc
