Re: Wireless Broadband Router 54 Mbps LC000070 and blueyonder????
Is there an option in the router's settings to allow it to act as a DHCP server? If there is you need to ensure that this is turned on - this way it will provide IP addresses for all machines on your network.
Also, you should have 5 ports on the back of that router. 1 is for the WAN (or internet), the other 4 are for the LAN (local machines). Make sure that the cab;e from your modem is plugged into the WAN port. How did you fix the problem of your router not finding a gateway? What operating system are you using? Can you connect at all (either wirelessly or with a cable) to the router? If you take the router out of the equation can you access the internet normally? (you will need to reboot the modem if you change the device that is cabled to it) |
Re: Wireless Broadband Router 54 Mbps LC000070 and blueyonder????
right thanks for the reply i use to be able to connect throught the net using a hub and a machine as a server on normal wire connection.
we can not connect with wires into the router either and we have also made sure that the WAN cable is plugg into the right socket. on all machines it's either xp pro, or xp home but no luk with both i got the router to find the gateway by copying the exact settings from my sever (DNS, Dynamic Ip,Gateway), but thats were i get stuck how do i send it back to the compueters after the router has found the connection, also if it's any help we can use the router for file sharing at the moment and thats all thanks alo matt |

Re: Wireless Broadband Router 54 Mbps LC000070 and blueyonder????
have u tried resetting the router and just connecting one computer via an ethernet cable. Once we can get a connecting wired then we can concentrate on getting a wireless connection
|
Re: Wireless Broadband Router 54 Mbps LC000070 and blueyonder????
i've tried it through an ethernet cable many of times but still no look and yeah i reset my router many of time too.

Re: Wireless Broadband Router 54 Mbps LC000070 and blueyonder????
the lan ip address you have given is the routers address.
Have you followed the instructions in the manual? |
Re: Wireless Broadband Router 54 Mbps LC000070 and blueyonder????
yes i followed the instruction and yeah that the ip for my router
|
Re: Wireless Broadband Router 54 Mbps LC000070 and blueyonder????
so if u enter 192.168.123.254 u get to the setup wizard? U need to make sure that the router is acting as a DHCP server, this will allocate ip addresses to your computers

Re: Wireless Broadband Router 54 Mbps LC000070 and blueyonder????
i've also done that as it's automaticly gave our computers ip's any other ideas

Re: Wireless Broadband Router 54 Mbps LC000070 and blueyonder????
in internet options>connections>LAN settings, is it ticked to automatically detect settings ?
|
Re: Wireless Broadband Router 54 Mbps LC000070 and blueyonder????
i know this may sound daft but where do i put these settings in?
also i've just been thinking that when i had the wierd network going into a hub i had to set the host computer to an ip like 192.168.0.1, thats the only setting it wud accept to allow net sharing would i need to do this on the router too? |
Re: Wireless Broadband Router 54 Mbps LC000070 and blueyonder????
U shouldn't really have to put any settings in anywhere. The router should pick up the settings it needs from the modem, and the pc's should get their settings from the router.
What ip address has your computer got? |
