Time Travel

Read this story about time travel, By his boot straps By Robert A. Heinlein (1941), first then the other document.

After give your view on the story, and about time travel in general.

I can also recommend Time Scape by Gregory Benford.

This has some interesting ideas on temporal paradoxes.

edit - also check out this site http://freespace.virgin.net/steve.preston/Time.html for more time travel information

Good story - very nicely done. But then it was Heinlein :)

As to the other doc - that seemed like it was someone's coursework - A few spelling mistakes and some incomplete musings on time travel paradoxes.

But then that's only because the author of the second doc took their material for that from the messages posted here tomorrow...

HEINLEIN!!!!

Spit,spit,hiss,boo...

If you like 50's style clunky dialogue and a political diatribe along with a very peculiar view of women by all means read his stuff. If you have been set it for homework you poor b*gger...

Interesting, will certainly give the insomniacs (me included) something to muse over...

Actually, I've been time traveling for some time. All you need to build a scarlett time machine* is a good matress and a dark room.

Lie on the matress and relax. breath in, breath out. Suddenly you will find yourself transported several hours into the future...

Scarlett.

Yeay - read that too - good book and it has some very good ideas but the sub story, i.e. the non techy bit was a bit slow though.

slow - that reminded me of the 'slow glass' stories, by Bob Shaw - they were a kind of detective series based around a type of glass that offered a 'real time' view into the past, a kind of time travel...good books :tu:

Best short story on time travel (IMHO)
The Endochronic Properties of Thiotimoline - Azimov

It's only a few pages long. Written as practise to get into a style for his Doctorate, and based around a molecule that had an extension into the future.

Re: Time Travel

I read about something called 'quantum entanglement' a while ago. apparently if a couple of 'quanta' (electrons etc) are connected to each other and 'entropy' is acheived and then they are seperated, it doesn't matter how far apart they are spatially, they have an instant reaction to each others states ... faster than the speed of light.

Interesting when you consider that 'time' is supposed to stop at the speed of light ... makes me wonder if it's not a dimension at all but an emergent property from the quantum 'froth' that M theory covers, just like the other three dimensions.

Wouldn't it be great if we could manipulate what we think of as time as send information through it ! ... indefinate bandwidth :)
