Speakers/ Digital radio
I have a small office I sometimes have to go to and hang about and was thinking (as the place has a broadband connection) of rigging up a computer to listen to some radio etc. Would appreciate some advice about speaker setup - eg would I have to go through a stereo/amplifier or could I wire it all straight through the computer - would I need some kind of special sound card etc
have not done much of this sort of thing before so would appreciate the advice :dunce: |

If you don't want to disturb anyone else, you can use a standard set of personal cd player/walkman headphones, most PCs have a "line out" or headphone specific socket.

Re: Speakers/ Digital radio
As long as your PC has a normal soundcard (most do nowadays), you can buy a pair of speakers that hook up to the back via a mini jack plug.
In the event it does not have a soundcard, you can pick one up for about £20 and speakers for about the same price with a subwoofer. There is no real point spending a lot of money on a soundcard and speakers if it is to listen to Internet radio, only do so if you are listening to high quality music of a high bit rate. A standard setup should do you fine. |
Re: Speakers/ Digital radio
If you can install iTunes on the PC it has a good radio section with lots of different radio channels at different bit rates.
