Getting ntl webspace to work

Hi
We have been with NTL for years and changed to Broadband about 2 years ago. I have been trying for approximately a year on-and-off to get into my webspace but still have no luck in doing so.

We have a PC and a Mac connected to the Broadband through a router and have tried on both to access NTL's ftp server. I have tried over Internet Explorer and FTP software such as Transmit for Mac and Terrapin for PC, but still no luck in connecting to NTL.

From tring to do so all I get is a message saying: "Could not connect to server, Server closed connection" or from IE, "Password required for **.**", even though I did put in the password.

We have 5 different e-mail accounts and have tried it with two of them, gareth.langford and danie.langford.

I would be grateful if anyone can assist me or tell me where I am going wrong.

Many Thanks
Gareth

Re: Getting ntl webspace to work

Same problem here (only I'm on Ubuntu Linux) - the error I get when trying a command line ftp is:
421 Service not available, remote server has closed connection
Login failed.
No control connection for command: Permission denied

Any ideas?
Thanks.

Re: Getting ntl webspace to work

The webspace name account name should be the name that is on the bill for your broadband etc The password will be the original password that you set for this. You should have received a letter from NTL with these details in it. If you still struggle to get into your webspace then there are a number of people on this forum that work for NTL and can help you sort it out.

With the upgrades etc going on it may be that the access to webspace is down at the moment. Have you been able to access your webspace up till now?

I've never been able to get into it, and I've had the account for a year now...

Thanks very much.

I got my webspace to work now.

Turned out that the main account name was under my dad's not my mum's. It didnt work with the original password but the new one which he changed it to.

Thanks again,
Gareth

Always useful to know which name the account is under, at least it's working now :)

Some things to check are that you are using the correct account name information and password. Usually the name on the broadband or NTL bill. If you can't remember those details then a call to customer services or a polite request to a member of NTL staff on here will normally resolve the problem pretty quickly ;)
