Set Top box Really Cool
I am abit shocked :)
Ok I went down to look at my NTL Pace Box and I Realized it was really cool :monkey:. And My NTL Box is on all the time so why is it so cool have NTL but Fans in there boxes. :p: My Box Is - Pace D14010-N <<< That is the Model Number |
Re: Set Topbox Really Cool
There are no fans in there. Changes were made to the hardware from to the 4001 box to make it run cooler among other things and alas, the 4010 box was born :)

Re: Set Top box Really Cool
Yeah they have slightly more memory than the 4001 which should make things run a little better - but with the current software you wouldn't be able to tell.
THey do have a downside though. They lack and analogue pass-through. These devices allow people with poor house ariels to take channels 1-5 for cable. Fortuantley an NTL engineer can fit an external passthrough to combat that problem :) __________________ Quote:
There are currently some very annoying bugs with the Samsung box which need to be ironed out before I can say I'm really glad I own one. I would love to have my Pace back, if only the return path wasn't knackered ;):) |
Re: Set Top box Really Cool
I suppose they look nice and if you treat it like a pc with dial up its fine ( says mark pulling hair out )

It uses a different chipset to the 4001 (except possibly the NC, I'm not sure), has a faster processor and more memory. In fact, the internals of the 4010/4000s are almost exactly the same as the Samsungs, except that the latter have a separate modem, whereas the Pace boxes use the one CPU for everything. |
