Problems in Leeds

Hello ;)

Past week and a bit i've been getting i've been fairly regular internet outage in the LS8 area. Contacted NTL and they did their usual stuff by sending out an engineer out who saw no problem (it's amazing how your broadband suddenly works 2 minutes before one shows up  ). Anyways, still getting the cut offs, more so tonight than ever, practically every 20 minutes :( I'm just wondering if anyone else in or around the LS8 area is getting the same problems? It all seems to of started since the speed upgrades were put into place. Oh, and a friend at work is also having the same problems and he lives near by :)

Any input appreciated...

PS - I'm on 3Mb/s...

LS6 here, and no problems at all, last time I had problems there was problems leeds wide a few months ago, further longer ago there was a problem cos some kids decieded to mess with the green boxes on the street

your best bet is to ask some people on your street if they have any issues

thats because they are at the green street box fixing it before knocking on your door

Are you connecting ethernet or usb to the modem/stb

ethernet connection, through a netgear router.

Haven't been on it much today but i'll find out tonight if it's continuing.. then ring NTL and shout at them a bit :D

Re: Problems in Leeds

Was stable for a good 8 hours earlier as far as I can see... then a timeout.

Rather than wait for it to come back, I tried to renew IP... and it worked! My first new IP in over 12 months.... 5 minutes later the connection dropped again.. and I got another new IP. Something must be going on.. I released my IP for over a week at one point and when I renewed it I got the same one back... so this is confusing :O

As far as I can see it's not a proxy issue as I lose all connectivity - not just through my browser.

Last night I had a total of 14 disconnects while I slept... which for 8 hours isn't great :( So i'll be getting an engineer out (again) today hopefully.

Re: Problems in Leeds

Resolved it seems.

Some cheeky bugger has cloned my cable modems mac address and has been using my connection on the sly! Spoke to a very helpful bloke called Daniel in tech support who found the problem straight away... the 2 calls previously (both to india i think) brought nothing up like this... infact they insisted it was my fault because I had p2p software installed.

Anyway they're sending an engineer round with a new modem tomorrow afternoon.. everything will be sorted then I guess :D
