Samsung STB Digieye not working
I changed from a PACE to a Samsung box on Saturday. I had the Digisender and Digieye working fine on the PACE STB, but on the Samsung I can no longer change channels remotely via the Digieye. I tried just using the Digisender to change channels but that doesn't work either.
Another problem. The mute function doesn't work. The mute symbol appears when pressed on the remote, but the sound doesn't mute. Can anyone help? |
Re: Samsung STB Digieye not working
The positioning of the DigiEye receiver and sender is critical. Some trial and error is needed to get the best performance. The DigiEye is also a bit susceptible to RF interference.
Check that the TV is connected to the TV SCART socket on the back of the STB (that's the lower socket). |
Re: Samsung STB Digieye not working
As Spiderplant said positioning of the sender and reciever is critical.
I found the sender (transmitter) works best just in front of the STB centre panel, about 3cm from it. The receiver (bit you point your remote at) I have about 1.5metres from me, and off to one side. Trial and error finds that it won't worl if you point the remote directly at it. It seems as if the remote overloads the receiver. You have to angle it and excercise a lot of patience. |
Re: Samsung STB Digieye not working
Could it be the change from IRDA to Standard RF?

Re: Samsung STB Digieye not working
Thanks guys, but unless I'm doing something really stupid I don't understand the problem (I haven't even changed the connections since it worked on the PACE box). I got my partner to change channels, whilst I moved the digieye around. When that didn't work I plug the digieye direct into the IR socket on the transmitter and got my partner to try changing channels by pointing the remote at the receiver. Still nothing.
The recieved picture seems to be better quality though. |
Re: Samsung STB Digieye not working
It does seem as thought the Digieye doesn't cope so well with RF as it does with IRDA, but it does work, with a little patiences.

It's also worth ensuring that the sender isn't picking up spurious IR noise, e.g. from energy-saving bulbs or direct sunlight. |
