Sharing file problem in using router (level one) between two wixp PCs
Hardware setup
Two pcs and one router Software setup Winxp Computer setting Config Computer A Computer B IP 192.168.123.234 192.168.123.567 subnet 255.255.255.0 255.255.255.0 Firewall Disable no File and printer sharing for microsoft networks Enable Enable Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) properties IP address auto DNS server address auto IP address auto DNS server address auto One Folder in C driver (Sharing and security setting) Enable Enable My computer (tools)(Simple file sharing setting) Enable Enable Search, type IP to pc No result No result Start, run, type IP to search pc No result No result Have anyone help me? |

I'm not at my XP machine at the moment but it's worth checking that you have got both machines registered to the same domain.
Can't remember how to check this at the moment but if nobody else posts back I will check when I get home. |

Give both machines an ip of say 192.168.1.1 & .192.168.1.2 - sequential addressing makes things easier for troubleshooting ;-)
DISABLE simple file sharing, and set permissions as required. Both machines should be in the same workgroup. The FIRST 2 steps in troubleshooting networks are ping (ping 192.168.1.1 from 192.168.1.2 and vice-versa) and event logs, suggest you disconnect from internet while disconnecting firewall - especially if u have enabled netbios, file & print sharing and "client for MS networks" - all 3 are redundant for normal internet access. |
