Word documents slow to open. running virus scan AVG 7.0
 

Hi.

My Word documents are very slow to open.

Even if I have opened them multiple times from my hard drive, the phrase "running virus scan..." still appears in the bottom left of Word and causes my documents to take 10-15 seconds to open.

There doesn't seem to be a setting in AVG 7.0 to stop it.

Can anyone help?

You could go into the AVG control centre, into the properties for "resident sheild" and uncheck the "scan documents" box.
That ought to do it.
To remain safe, you could always manually scan other peoples documents received via disk/email from the right click, "scan with avg" as and when you really need to.
