Samsung STB.

Hi Guys,

Due to being told that a new STB wouldnt be able to be installed till late april/may for 2MB I got a Samsung SMT 2100-C STB off a friend who used to have cable but switched to sky (he had it installed to cure what he was told was a PACE STB problem but it was the line).

When I installed it I got a "not paired" when I tried to watch any proper cable channels with my PACE card, I tried the original card that came with the Samsung SMT 2100-C STB and got "You are not subscribed to this channel"

Is there anyway I can get this to work ?

thanks in advance.

Lee

Re: Samsung STB.

Nope because it should have been returned by your friend when he left as it is still Ntls property.

If you want the TV channels then you will need to get Ntl to set up a TV account for you.

I dont think you read my post properly.

I ALREADY have NTL and a TV package + 750k BB.

And if it's still NTL's property surely they should have arranged someone to pick it up.

Even so its still NTL's property and will still be used on an NTL line.

TBH, when they announced speed upgrades, they should have forseen they would need to change thousands of STB's and maybe got on it straight away.

Even posting them to people, cheaper than an engineer and even with SIMPLE instructions not a hard task to set up, could give that option over the phone if customers are comfortable with setting it up themselves.

No I did read it properly. I read it and gave you the correct answers. They might not be what you wanted to here but they are correct.

They do arrange to pick it up. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if your friend gets hit with a charge for not returning it.

Uh huh. Yep I'm sure all the engineers who have been sitting in a depot for months scratching their ar*e and drinking tea would have been better utilized changing boxes over.
In fact they should have trained up several thousand new engineers just to ensure every customer can be swapped over the same day.

For a large number of reasons that is very unlikely to ever happen.

Ok no need for the sarcasm.

And if NTL arrange pickup they aren't very good at it, Look on Ebay for a start, as well as a few people I've know who have NTL boxes collecting dust in their flats from previous subscribers long gone.

As for the Scratching their arse drinking tea bit, I've seen 3 guys working on an install before, 2 doing just that and watching the other one. :)

1 If your mate reads his T&C he will find that it is HIS responsibility to return the stb, but ntl lay on a pick up service (via a 3rd party).
2 They did forsee the swap out of stb's but there are a lot to do, you are not the only customer.
3 Posting stb's would not be an option people could sell them on etc.

Sit back relaxe and just wait for the upgrade and stop complaining its a FREE upgrade after all, if you were paying for the upgrade then you would have grounds to complain.

Fair enough, not complaining really, just wanted to know if a swap out was easy but obviously not.
