Madrid train bombings

Quote:

Ten bombs exploded on four trains in the early hours of 11 March 2004

People across Spain are marking the first anniversary of the Madrid train bombings in which 191 were killed and more than 1,800 were injured.
Church bells across the capital tolled at 0737 (0637 GMT), the moment when the first of 10 co-ordinated blasts hit commuter-packed trains.

One year ago today :(

Wow. Time goes so quickly. Thoughts are with the families of those who died. :(

Indeed.

And let's hope that we don't have a repeat performance here in the UK just before our general election.

It may seem like a small step, but potentially, it could be quite big. I only wish other clerics would follow suit.

It is a small step, because the clerics will not advocate that muslims give information to the police. Instead of stating clearly that it is in the best intrests of islam to coperate with the authoraties in which muslins reside (muslim nation or otherwise), then non-muslims will be suspicious of their motives. I doesnt matter if a person is a pillar of the community, if that person will not pass on information, to non-muslims, because of some greater loyalty to islam, then their loyalties to their parent nations is highly suspect.

My 2 cents worth.

It says in the article:

Quote:

"We don't get involved in police affairs but we do feel that all Muslims are obliged to ... keep anyone from doing unjustified damage to other people."
That's pretty close to saying that information should be handed over. I guess they've got to treat carefully with this kind of stuff too.
