Samsung STB Availability

Just was wondering what the availability of the "new" Samsung STBs was like across the NTL network??

Im in Belfast and am having problems with our Pace 4010 - such as having to reboot at least once a day to see what is actually going to be on the tv (ie - the EPG fails to work - I know this is hardly a new problem). :erm:

I am contemplating contacting NTL and reporting this as a fault in the chance that we could get a samsung box.

But knowing us out here in the periphery of the UK, we probably cant get it here!! :dozey:

Any ideas people??

Thanks

James

I think all new customers are being provided with the Samsung boxes, while as your complaint is Pace-specific, any engineer who comes out to you will probably be sympathetic and connect up a nice shiny silver STB.

Samsungs may be in short supply with all the box swaps so I wouldn't bank on a Samsung if you don't have BB over 1Mb.

There like gold dust around here the engineer had to go to manchester and back to get 1 sammy. He rang every other installer around and all laughed and added a few swear words to him. Good luck getting one mine took a lot of blagging but paid off and now on 2mb :D

Ul probably find there wont be many Sammys in the Belfast area as its a Langley area, therefore cant get BroadBand through a STB, so what will probably happen is all deliveries will be directed to the Bromley platform areas to make sure all the swap outs are done first < for the upgrades > then they will go back to try & spread them across both platforms.

Hmm - seems I may have to wait a while for a samsung box then!! :(

Well, I'll see how long we can actually put up with a non-existant EPG, interactive, etc (as everyone else does) and then think about reporting it as a fault.

The box is so bad that we are actually afraid to press anything on the remote other than then channel numbers and up down buttons!!! Seems to me that technology is beginning to invade and conquer our lifestyles!! :Yikes:

Anyone from Northern Ireland have a Samsung box?? Please let me know??

Probably while the current upgrade flap is on, true, but the rule in Langley areas is largely Samsung now - the fault rate is so much lower on them that they save a lot of grief by installing them. Belfast has loads, incidentally, it was one of the first areas.

Yes, there are lots in Belfast. I think it was the first Langley area to get them.

But that doesn't necessarily mean you'd get one.

I suppose what I said before still stands then?? If I were to wait a month or so - perhaps I'd get one easier??

What are peoples views on the box anyway? Anyone have major problems with them? Or are all the reviews good on this samsung??
