ntl broad band not working pleaase help
 

just got broad band ..

cable modem works fine, driver etc . .. but when i click on internet explorer the green bart only goes up two bars then sits there .. took pc to friend house and plugged in his cabe modem and internet worked fine straight away ..

anyone know what the problem could be ... please help . i have been through all ntl help section and spoken to them on phone but still no joy :mad: :mad:

welcome to the forums.... :D

we need some more information....

1) what lights do you have on the cable modem at the moment?

2) what did technical support advise you about the issue? did they say it was a pc issue or what?

3) how long have you been having this problem?

4) where in the country are you?

5) usb or ethernet?

6) what version of windows?

7) you say you have only just got broadband, have you ever had it working since installation... has the cable modem been registered with the software?

8) what is your ip address?
(start > run > cmd or command > ipconfig)

the power light is on , then usb is on . ~( ive tried ethernet as well )
u/s only flases every now and again .. d/s all the time . and the last two light are always on ( rdy scr).
ntl said it was my driver for my modem .. so i reinstalled the drivers and now they are ok ..ive been having this problem for around 2 week since i got broad band.. i havent used it yet .. .. i have windows xp... cant register the modem with software as it wont let me .. cd rom run so far then after i put in my personnel info it say cant connect to servers ..
cant give u my ip address as im at work .. any help would be great as ntl dont seem to want to help me ...

Have a read of the article about registering without the CD at http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/article.php?a=13 . Ethernet connection is much better than USB.

ntl did say dat the internet will be down , for like 5mins cause of upgrading the network : http://www.ntl-isp.ntl.com/ServiceStatus/

its been down for at least 2 weeks then. ntl are no help .. and i paying for a service im not getting

did you get information such as your ip address?

does your ip address end with .248 - .253?

if it does this is a pre-registration address and you will not be browse the net until you register yourself at http://autoreg.autoregister.net
