TV football 'corrupts children'

Quote:

Football should only be shown on TV after 9pm because of the bad example it sets to children, a leading head teacher is expected to say.
So what next?
Basketball incites extreme violence?
Cricket sparks racial hatred?

I can see the point but it's impractical.

In the end behavior on the soccer pitch is down to the referee and linesmen. Perhaps clubs should try harder to enforce a standard code of conduct and players should behave like gentlemen. For rugby union bad behaviour is rare and there is astonishing respect for referees. Cricket rarely sees bad behaviour. Soccer is a problem and something should be done to curb rudeness on the field.

It's up to parents to show their children what's right and what's wrong and parents should lead by example.

I think you'll find that certain little kiddies know more swear words (and the context in which to use them) than your average Premiership footballer!

Ok, see your point Chimera, I have to say though that the children living in our area are generally polite and pleasant and not troublesome but perhaps we are lucky here, maybe there are bad ones somewhere. I think the point that is being made is that adults should think carefully about their own behaviour, shall we say need to set a good example as far as behaviour goes.

Absolutely! :tu: I hate it when you hear certain parents effing and blinding at their children who are still in pushchairs though - what sort of a chance do they have?
Could it also be that footballers are being brought into the game at a younger age, before they have had the chance for a decent education themselves, let alone learn any social graces or acceptable behaviour? Perhaps the FA should think about that, before ramming money at these yobbos!

So presumably this head teacher thinks that no children should attend football matches either, since that is far worse than watching them on tv.

I'm glad my kids don't attend whatever school he runs, what a complete and utter pratt
