hanging email

Several times this week my mail from my spam addy has been timing out in OE.So everytime I go to webmail to sort it out. Each and every damned time the hold up is the spam with multiple question marks in the subject heading like this ???????

How can I stop this?As soon as I delete them in the webmail inbox the rest of the mail can arrive in OE.Anyone got a solution?

I'll give it a go but as the number of question marks vary every time it may not work for all.I supose I'll have to set up rules from one ? up to a dozen?

Spammers are g*ts!!

Re: hanging email

nope this is not working.Neither is adding the senders email addy to blocked mail.

It just won't download any thing with ????? in the subject matter. The mail contains foriegn type as well.

What the heck can I do? This is highly inconvenient as I don't want to have to go to my webmail inbox ALL the time...I must get 10 of these particular spam per day...

So much for NTL using a spam filter....

This is the content of one of them...

one suggestion springs to mind

you could forward the mail to your i-web email addy & enable the spam filter on there.

http://www.ntlworld.com/help/your_ac...ail_manage.php

- if you choose to disable keeping a copy on the ntl server, this 'should' stop the inbox clogging up.

Well I abandoned my I-web addy and deleted it but it might be worth investigating setting up a new one....I just wish these particular set of spammers knew that instead of ending in my inbox they are just hanging about on the server...They might rethink their strategy..but then again do they care?

It would be helpful if there was some way for me to set up a filter in webmail..but of course there isn't.Wish the webmaster at ntl was more switched on. :(

Oh no!! I'm using just one addy for all my signing up to sites, buying online and I don't want it to pass to my gmail as well.

But it might be an idea as the spam filter is excellent at gmail.Just until the fecking useles swedes who are sending me this particular form of spam lose interest.

If it downloaded into OE I do have a more than adequate Saftey Bar from Cloudmark that would deal with it...it just won't download.

I don't believe this!! I cannot forward from the webmail addresss.I can only use pop mail.

Frankly I think NTL are crap when it comes to webpages and webmail. What they at present supply as webmail is frankly a joke compared to Yahoo and Gmail...They truly think that people use them for other things than email instead of realising that it's email that most people use the net for...

I must get my family to stop using this email addy...again.They won't listen when I tell them to use my gmail instead.

I've not tried inviting myself :dozey:

I'm not sure, but I think if you set up the forwarding from ntl to any other address, using the 'self help' link in my earlier post, then it will update your account without trying to load the inbox, all subsequent incoming mail should then forward to the new addy.

I seem to remember reading something about international characters being used for spam/phishing, I wonder if that is why these are getting stuck in ntl's server???

Just send an invite to a different email address of yours.

Yep. The forwarding options etc are all via the self care page.

Re: hanging email

Maybe try setting up an Imap account in OE. This way you can preview the messages and their subjects (just as in webmail) and delete/purge the unwanted mail rather than trying to download the whole lot.

Server name for incoming and outgoing mail is imap.ntlworld.com
