Annoyed Customer!!!!

Back at the end of January i called NTL to cancel my service.
I was given the address to send the letter to, which i done giving 30 days notice, and more, to cancel for this Month (10th)

I called them after about a week and was told yes the cancellation was going through, so after my next payment i call again and am told that im no longer on the billing cycle

I make a 3rd call to chase up writen confirmation of the cancellation as each time im told, it will be there shortly.

Today i receive an invoice for next month plus £2 for cancelling the DD.

I call them up and some women tells me to speak to their disconnections team
she gives me the number and i ask what time they close
8:00 i was told so i ask her for her name at which point she hangs up!
i call the disconnections, and guess what?! Closed!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I call them back and speak to a very helpful guy named Adam who says all he can do is downgrade the service to the lowest package until i can speak to them on Monday

now i really need some help as this was supposed to be cancelled and i now need to pay for NTL and my new ADSL provider which i cant afford!!

How on earth can they say they have no notes from my phone calls and not help

Please if anyone can help i would be greatly appreciated!

I would just wait until Monday to speak to them, the chances are they will realise they have made a mistake, cancel your service and refund you your money if any was taken.

If i was in your position, i would sit back, relax and enjoy some free services at least until Monday.

I'm having the same problem

I sent in a letter in November of last year, I STILL get the bill every month for £2
No matter how many phone calls I make, it doesn't make any difference

DJC if you do not get anywhere on Monday, PM me some details (Click on my name on this post and a drop down menu should appear, click 'Send a Private message to Mick') and I will send this issue into ntl on your behalf.

AdamD - Send me some details via PM (Account number/contact number) and I will send these into ntl on your behalf for someone to look at.

Thanks mick i will try and call them after 9:00

but this morning my internet has stopped working altogther now - so hopefully they cut me off! BUT the modem still shows all normal activity

tried my emails and that doesnt recognise my username or password anymore - or it could just be the email system down again!!
but normally when it is down i can telnet into the mail server and it will tell me my mailbox is inaccessible - today it says wrong username or password!

either way NTL are not going to get £39.99 out of me this month

anyway i will let you know how i get on! fingers crossed!

by the way i dont suppose there is any other way of checking myself if i have been cut off now??

Were you trying to cancel broadband?

What was the address they gave you? I was told that a phone call was enough.

Re: Annoyed Customer!!!!

yeah this was for broadband

i had to write to some address in coventry
called them this morning and she first said it was online so i asked her why my internet isnt working and emails cut off
she came back after a few minutes and said its been disconnected and she had to now close it her end?!

anyway she says i will receive a final bill confirming cancellation and she said the balance is 0.00 so i will not pay again

i asked her for email confirmation in the mean time and she said she cant do it

anyway if there is any NTL staff here, any chance you can check your systems and confirm if this is now cancelled??

TIA

Given the amount of people who post here on this very subject I'd suggest that a phone call to cancel any of ntl's services is as useful as the proverbial chocolate teapot. This might be the case with any other company (however I've not heard of any other organisations having this many complaints of this nature) but if you are planning on doing anything which will result in lowering the amount of money ntl gets from you then always do it by post and recorded delivery only.

It seems like that these days it is sadly no longer enough to just ask for the name of the person you're speaking to.

This kind of thing must be a real kick in the teeth for the ntl guys (and guyettes) who help out here.
