Web Space Disabled if Dormant ?
After some months ( 6 - 9) of inactivity, I find I can no longer view or publish to my webspaces.
NTL support claim that it is still active but I'm not quite convinced. I'd appreciate any ideas or equally other's experience of this happening. I have tried viewing the pages from home (NTL) and from the office but just the NTL 404 page results. Cheers, Pete springfield |
Re: Web Space Disabled if Dormant ?
Try getting to it with FTP. (<Start>, <Run>, "ftp")
At the ftp prompt - open upload.ntlworld.com username is your primary email addy eg pete.springfield password - same as email password dir command will show the contents. The browser address should be something like http://homepage.ntlworld.com/pete.springfield/somefile.htm hth __________________ BTW - best to try FTP from home - some corp firewalls will block FTP! |
Re: Web Space Disabled if Dormant ?
Thanks for the prompt response but no go.
I had tried both viewing and publihing with CuteSite builder but the simple FTP was a useful confirmation. The FTP connection is closed upon entering the password as if the account is not valid. I'm wondering if CS simply refer to a record of the webspace status rather than actually verifying that it is, in fact, still active. Thanks again, Pete |

Re: Web Space Disabled if Dormant ?
Looks like we are now back in action.
A couple of interesting observations though. 1. The web space contents have been removed or deleted. Whether due to a fault, cleanup or some policy, I don't know. 2. A little dissapointed that original CS rep didn't check so thoroughly as the second person who took the trouble to actively verify that there was a problem with my webspace. After fixing matters, the second person was quite prepared to hold on line long enough for me to verify things from my end as well so it's not all doom and gloom at NTL technical services. Cheers, Pete |
