1571 Increasing Rings?

Hi guys, does anyone know if it is possible to increase the amount of rings on ntl's 1571 before it goes to the answering service, only when i get to the phone half the time the automated 1571 has kicked in.

Thanks if anyone can help :D

Hi Nostra

Yes the amount of rings can be increased, and I happen to work in the dept who deals with the swansea area. If one of the mods can confirm I work for ntl by checking my email address, then pm me and I'll sort it for you.

Can the amount of rings be increased on call divert too?

Yes, I believe it can be. Not sure if it's customer activated, or from NTL's end at the switch though so I've emailed a colleague and as soon as I get a reply I'll post it for you

which department do you work in winters? we've always been told by our t/l that the number of rings before voicemail kicks in is a default 6 and cannot be changed! i'm not saying you're wrong! i'm just curious

It can be changed but 'normally' this is only done for Voicemail plus customers. The standard freeby 1571 is left at a default level.

Still if you know someone friendly enough and with switch access you can do almost anything ;)

I've worked in installs despatch, faults despatch, faults and networks routing, provisioning. Everywhere but the canteen!. We change voicemail rings quite regularly. I always thought for plain divert it was a standard thing, but after speaking to one of the net engineers he thinks it's possible, so waiting for a response from one of the switch engineers to see if it can be done :)

oh i see! thanks dezzo, i guess t/l's just tell us that because they see it as to difficult to change, i get quite a few calls requesting it. Thank You anyway!

Tell me about it. Only got 7 weeks to go now though :) in the middle of 90 days notice. If you deal with SMS areas then I've prob spoken to you a few times for provisioning queries.

BTW My colleague the switch tech tells me we stick to a standard length of ring time for customers with call divert.
