PC beeps when changing play control balance & also graphics card problem
Hi guys,
got a very weird problem with my sister's account on my computer. Everytime she changes the Play Control Balance the PC beeps, its a single beep, and it ONLY does it when changing the play control balance, it doesnt do it on my login, any idea why on earth it does it?! I have a Asus P4P800 Deluxe Mobo, SB Audigy 1 Sound Card and I have Windows XP Service Pack 1. Another problem I have is on the PC I builty for my sister, on the graphics card where you plug the monitor cable in, one of the little circular nuts has come off of the gfx card which I bought new about a month ago (an old ATI Radeon 9200) so I cant plug the monitor in properly and it stays in standby mode, is it easy to get a replacement nut to place on the graphics card so when I plug in the monitor cable it will go in okay? Hope you guys can help me... cheers |
Re: PC beeps when changing play control balance & also graphics card problem
Check Control Panel > Sounds (and Audio Devices) > Sounds
It's likely that she has Windows set to use no sound like I do in her profile. |

I've checked that already and there are no sounds on at all... which is exactly like mine.... this is bizarre :S

Re: PC beeps when changing play control balance & also graphics card problem
When u change the volume control in XP, it beeps to signify the current volume. If the monitor is plugged into the graphics card and you arent getting a picture then it is knackered, losing one of the nuts will not stop it from working.

Re: PC beeps when changing play control balance & also graphics card problem
Zeph,
why does it beep on my sister's login and not on mine? my sister wants to get rid of it.... As for the graphics card/monitor problem which occurs on her new PC which I built for her....one of the 2 circular nuts on the graphics card where you plug the monitor in has come off, therefore making the entire thing very loose, the monitor cable wont screw in properly, therefore it could very well cause problems with the monitor staying in standby... I bought the ATI Radeon 9200 for her PC brand new from Aria.co.uk and have hardly used it... Cheers, |

1. U mean the volume control panel sliders?
2. If you hold the monitor plug still do you get a picture? If not the graphics card is more than likely buggered. |

Re: PC beeps when changing play control balance & also graphics card problem
no mate, its set at full, which is normal... for both logins.
By the way, I just tried my sister's PC, and the monitor is staying in standby, I bought that ATI Radeon 9200 brand new from Aria only about 4 weeks ago and have heardly used her PC.....this is strange as the previous graphics card I tried (Voodoo 3) had the same problem where the monitor would go into Standby.... hmmf :( |
Re: PC beeps when changing play control balance & also graphics card problem
I found a fix for anyone that wants to know.
you need to download TweakUI from Microsoft's site, and there's an option within TweakUI to untick "beep on errors" - that turns it off, YAY :D |
