I-Web Solutions, problems with maths?
I'm just looking at the I-web solutions site (want to register a domain name and take up one of their CF packages).
I think that either: a) I'm reading something wrong or b) There's a problem with the maths on the site Perhaps somebody could check the following for me: Annual Cost = £10.69 GBP Domain Registration Cost = £17.98 GBP Per 2 Years Now, I make that: Total Payable Now = £28.67 GBP Total Recurring Annual = £10.69 GBP (payable Feb 2006) and then £28.67 GBP in Feb 2007 to cover the Annual Cost and the cost of renewing the domain. But according to the I-Web site it's: Total Payable Now = £28.67 GBP Total Recurring Annual = £28.67 GBP So it looks like at the end of the first year I have to pay another years hosting cost (fine) plus the cost of registering the domain for the next 2 years (even though I still have a year to run on the original registration? Not fine). Can somebody have a look for me and see if I've missed something please? http://www.i-websolutions.co.uk/cfhosting.php I'm going for CF Package 1 and getting I-Web to register a .co.uk domain for me. Cheers. __________________ BTW - This isn't intended to be a blatent plug, honest :D |
Re: I-Web Solutions, problems with maths?
hi Raist
this is based on I-web regging a domain on your behalf - they charge for that, however regging a domain with a 3rd party & moving it to I-web is free ;) |

It might surprise you to learn that we are not I-Web, we only buy hosting from them so posting this on here is fairly pointless. ;) |

Re: I-Web Solutions, problems with maths?
Your maths seem correct to me but I've had a few beers now so I'm probably wrong. :D

Re: I-Web Solutions, problems with maths?
Yep, I know that.
But, at the start of the hosting package the site is saying that I will pay the 17.98 to register the domain for two years. Then it says that I will have to pay another 17.98 in one year's time..... |
Re: I-Web Solutions, problems with maths?
It is a bug in the client software rest assured you will only be billed for the domain once then when it is up for renewal in 2 years you will be invoiced again

Re: I-Web Solutions, problems with maths?
Ok, I've signed up with I-Web.
does anybody know how long it takes to actually register the domain name? It's a .co.uk if that makes any difference. I would ask on their forum but, despite being a registered member, it won't let me post there (yes I have followed the activation process). I have had an email telling me that I need to point the DNS for my domain name at their DNS but I don't see why I should need to do that if they're registering the domain. Did I miss a step? |
Re: I-Web Solutions, problems with maths?
No, you just need to wait up to 48 hours to the domain to resolve on the world's DNS servers.
Until then, you can use the IP to upload stuff. |

Did you send a PM to one of the admins per the notice? However i have upgraded your forum account. Your domain name can take anything upto 5 days, normally it takes about 24 hours, or at most 48, but the registrars do say anything upto 5 days. That notice is really a reminder, that should you have registered your domain elsewhere that it is still not pointing at our servers. You can dis-regard it to be honest. If you have anymore issues, i would recommend you login to your members center and create a support ticket, whilst they are a friendly bunch over here, im sure it wont take too long to annoy them with I-Web support issues ;) :) |
Re: I-Web Solutions, problems with maths?
I've connected to the IP address (using Filezilla) that I was given in my email and uploaded a file called index.htm to the root directory.
When I browse to the address on the server I can't see my index page, all I get is the standard I-Web page. Any ideas? To be honest, there are a whole load of folders in the root directory and I can't work out what is what. I can't even see an index page that controls the I-web page that is up there. __________________ Quote:
