NTL receiving "Poor" signal

I have a 1.5mb NTL connection and NTL cable tv.

My broadband connection is great. good pings and always full speed downloads.

My TV however always struggles with the guide, interactivity and is generally slow. I always though this was due to the box but recently I had to go into the diagnostic screen for a certain purpose and I noticed it has a signal strengh of "poor".

I'm assuming this is why I always get "No information available" when trying to use guide and so on.

So I guess my question is how can my broadband connection which btw is on a stand alone modem be so good but the tv signal so poor as they are effectively the same line. And is there something I can do to fix it?

Thanks

When my last box broke we had a engineer come round to fit the new box etc and he didn't mention it was a problem.

I remember a while ago them using attenuators? on the line due to line quality but this is well over a year ago now.

Worth reporting you think? Wasn't sure if "poor" signal could be reported as a fault as such.

Hiya,

There's loads of reasons why one might seem fine while the other isn't - perhaps there's a lot of people on your street with cable tv but not many with braodband?

In any case, a call to CS should help - they can send someone out to tweak the signal strength.

Call them on 0800 052 2000

it could be a few thigns causing one to be fine and one not,

if they are on seperate cable runs then it could be the splitter, a connector, the cable itsself if it has any sharp bends or kinks in the cable, it could be the box itself, or it could be the signal levels, DTV works on different freq's to BB

ring cs and they should send someone out to ya.

the attenuators reduce the signal level.

On the main page this thread reads as "NTL receiving Poo"..

:D

Serves them right if you ask me.

Best bet is to give NTL a call and they will send a tech round.
