Remote - Select Problem
 

Had it less than a day but the select button on the remote sometimes does nothing at all, in fact last night trying to get select to work crashed the box.

Box is a Pace and remote is a blue one.

Any ideas?

Used the search option on the forum but can't find mention of this problem.

STB's crashing/locking is pretty much a standard feature of ntl DTV in my experience.

Going from memory here, but isn't the 'select' button the fairly central one?

If that's the case, then I*think* it's used to select a channel when you have been browsing using the EPG.

What part of the country are you in?

yes it's the centre one marked ok/select.

So if you browse the program guide, then press select to watch that channel, nothing happens?

Sounds like the remote may need new batteries-doesn't the STB have a select button? If it does, does that do anything?

I think you're in an original ntl area (as opposed to one that was served by Cable & Wireless)

So did the engineer leave yesterday without all your channels working??

i'll try the batteries when i get home.

Yesterday the first time the select stopped working we tried the one on the box and found the whole thing had crashed. But since then the box has been ok but select has done nothing, can still browse the channel guide but not select anything.

It was working again last night and this morning but keeps having problems.

not sure what the engineer checked, i left the mrs in charge

It's unlikely the engineer checked every single button on the remote, and the battery check is the first thing to do. If it does turn out to be faulty, call Customer Services and they will send a replacement.

Also, double check that the select button on the box works if the remote one does not. I am pretty certain I have used the program guide and been able to browse it but not select before but that has been a STB problem fixed by rebooting.

Can anybody think of anything else select is used for that does not rely on the STB interactive software?
