E-Mails stopped....?
My Emails seem to have stopped arriving and sending.....
I did a complete re-install without the broadband jump cd and all goes well. It tells me that all is good but Emails are NOT set up. The thing is I did not initially Register the modem again on the fresh install becuase it all worked fine from the off. Even the Email accounts (both mine and my girlfriends were recieving) But now they have suddenly stopped. I di install Office 2003 with Outlook and the problems seem to have come at the same time. Although this could just be coincidence. I also thought that maybe the emails I got upon the reinstall were just "Old" ones that were delivered and that it is the "New" ones that I cannot get? I have gone through all the settings and the account names are fine, passwords are fine, pop, smtp etc...all seem fine. I even went to auto reg again and followed the tutorial to make sure the right boxes were unticked and the ports were fine. I am now thinking that maybe there is a problem with the email service and not a problem at my end however the service page reports a fualt with email but was fixed on the 2nd feb. The error is.... 0x80042108 and states that is unable to connect to my pop3 email server. Any ideas please??? :( |
Re: E-Mails stopped....?
if you are on BB, i think that NTL do not need your password, try taking this off.
it should be in the SMTP section of the outgoing. Thunderbird: Tools > Account Settings > Outgoing Server (SMTP) > Server name: smtp.ntlworld.com Port: 25 Default: 25 Untick use name and password & delete password Outlook Express: Tools > Accounts > Mail > Highlight your account > properties > Servers Untick your remember password & delete your password Apply & Ok hope this gets your mail back. ik |
Re: E-Mails stopped....?
Still not working......
I tried unticking it but no luck. Everything seems ok. Whe I test the setting it says connection is ok, but fails on recieving anything and also fails the "Test" email. I am running out of ideas.... Is there a way to Delete the Office outlook and revert to the old one when all seemed to be ok?? This is the only problem I can think of, but I have used this plenty of times on countless other re-installs. MMmm EDIT: Just looking at the info box before it disapears it seems that in can find the servers but just fails to log into them.....If this is any help? To me this would suggest a wrong password, but the password is the same one I have always used and my girlfriend is on a separate acoount and password and hers is doing the same...Do I need to tell NTL that I have re-installed and if so how do I do this?? I already registered the modem after the re-install but it said nothing about emails.......... |
Re: E-Mails stopped....?
try downloading a program called thunderbird:
http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/ and set up your email in that and see if it comes through, if it does, cool, if you import from Outlook it may not work, so try to input your details manually. ik EDIT yes you can always delete outlook. control panel > add & remove programmes > outlook > remove then find the folder and remove that as well, I don't have outlook, so not sure if it would delete your messages. |
Re: E-Mails stopped....?
Thunderbird is telling me that the connection is being refused......?
I hope this does not mean more endless hours on hold!!!!!!!! Any other ideas before I give them a ring?? Tnx for your help so far. ;-) |

tools > accounts > |
Re: E-Mails stopped....?
Yep it looks exactly the same as yours does.
I also did not import the setting from outlook like you said not to. I use Norton pro 2004 but even with it turned off it still gets refused.... Looks like a night on the phone is looming ever nearer..... |
Re: E-Mails stopped....?
all looks ok from this end
sounds to me like a firewall issue or something but as you say in this instance it would be better (and faster) for you to contact support good luck |
Re: E-Mails stopped....?
I am stumped, sorry I could not have been any more help to you.
