New User Email Error

Hi all

Just set up a new user on my PC. Copied setting from old account and I get the following error message..............

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.ntlworld.com', Server: '127.0.0.1', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

For info use spampal

Any ideas gratefully recieved

Thanks

Re: New User Email Error

i'd check the server settings again.

go to tools > accounts > mail > properties > servers

pop.ntlworld.com
smtp.ntlworld.com

Re: New User Email Error

Is spampal installed on your PC, or is it an Internet-based service? 127.0.0.1 is a special IP address, which tells your computer to talk to itself.

If it's installed on your PC, it sounds like there's something wrong with it. If you haven't had to install some software on your PC, the server address is wrong.

EDIT: Scratch that. A quick look at www.spampal.com shows it's installed on the PC. Make sure it's running: http://www.spampal.org/faqengine/faq...pampal&lang=en

if you have set up a new user, you won't have any 'old' messages to export - or is it me being a :dunce:

the address book is a *.wab file - the messages are held in *.dbx files - be careful that you don't wipe new messages by trying to install an old *.dbx file ;)
