cant get emails from outlook express
 

but i can get them on the ntl web page ..
and can get the headers from my pop peeper software ..
but it wont download from outlook express ..it says downloading and then just hangs ..
do i need to chang some settings or something ..
it says on the ntl web site that email probs have been fixed ..,.,.,oh yeh:mad:

emails sometimes get 'stuck' - using webmail to delete the first message in the queue, will more often than not sort it out.

hi Gaz ,,thanks for info but i deleted all emails the tried to sen one to myself and it still just wont download ..
any other idears ..setting maybe;)

thing is - if it worked before, it shouldn't be a settings issue - monkeybreath works for NTL and is very helpful - I would PM him your username & let him have a look :)

I have just sent you 3 emails, one from my ntl account, one from my Gmail account & one from my hosted domain, but using NTL smtp server - it will be interesting to see if any get through ;)

no sad to say it still dont work .
could i change the incoming mail port ..it is set at 110 at the moment .
or can you think of anything else that might be wrong ..
i have tried switching off the firewall ect set everything i can to default setting but still just hangs ..
my pop peeper software will download the emails though and that got it settings from outlook express .so i just dont know what else to think ..but this has all happened since ntl was having trouble with the email system ..
maybe just a coinsidence then ..

yeah i would assume the settings are ok - they worked before & if it ain't broke.....

Until you get evidence to the contrary, i would continue to suspect it could still be a problem at NTL's end.

Gmail is a free beta webmail service, run by Google, which offers a 1Gigabyte mailbox for storing your mail.

- as a downside it also displays adverts that are 'relevant' to the content of the email, that are automatically generated by the pop server. In fact these are not that intrusive - no more than the ones generated by a normal Google enquiry, anyway.

Users of the service periodically get the opportunity to invite new users - there is currently no other way to get a Gmail account.

If you want to give it a go, let me know, I will send you an invite. :)

no - not me ;) - i don't work for NTL - monkeybreath, however, may have had a hand in it - or it may just be the earlier fault had not cleared throughout the network.

Main thing is it's working - don't be a stranger, now :)
