Reset? As in turn the power on and off or to clear the memory completely.

If its to turn it on and off then pull the plug out. If its something else there is no reason anyone other than Ntl would need to do this.

Why would you need to do this?

Unless of course it's a box bought from somewhere and seeing all the digital boxes are Ntl's property you are technically handling stolen property.

Heya, welcome to the site

As dezzo says, Turn it off at the plug for about 30 seconds. that will clear the active memory... What's gone wrong with it?

Dezzo - Lets let the fella explain before we call the cops just yet, eh?

I'm curious... why do you want to do this?

EDIT: Dammit Dezzo, you have to offer the rope first...

regardless , it wont make any difference to the box , if it is nicked then it will either not work or the user will get caught at some point , if it isnt then lukeilett may just be looking for a way to reset a crashed box ;) , anyway :welcome: to the site lukeilett :)

In which case you need to follow the procedure dezzo explained to you after your first post. If there is still a fault with the box you need to contact faults (151). :)

Well I frequently have to restart (ie pull the plug out for a bit) my box if I dare to press the red button... But all that happens the next time I press the red button is that it crashes again.

I was told by an ntl engineer who came out to look at my box 'Don't press the red button - it doesn't work and we don't support it'
