You obviously didn't read the user comments then, nearly half of the people who used it said it was a bit crap.

Almost any download accelerator has spyware, take Download Accelerator Plus for example, they say they don't have spyware but Spybot and Adaware always seem to detect loads of spyware from it.

Any download accelerator is generally a download de-celerator.
And with most being linked to spam, its often best to forget these programs that claim to work miracles.
Its a good idea and would be great if they were good, but not really worth it in the long run.

Freshdownload has no spyware and is free, http://www.freshdevices.com/, most of the ones you pay for are also spyware free (after you've purchased of course, the trials are no doubt riddled with it)

Also, the benefit of a download manager (which I'm not sure is even related to this thread) is that you can resume broken downloads and download using more than 1 thread, e.g. 1 thread to easynews normally tops out around 100kps for me at times, with a few threads running you can use your full download speed.

Freshdownload is one I have used before, and has to be the best freeware accelerator available. Didn't speed up my downloads but it helped with it's resume feature on large downloads.
