Re: NTL SMTP dead again
can you show me how to check it from my machine?
|
Re: NTL SMTP dead again
start-> run-> telnet
then in the window type (without quotes) "open smtp.ntlworld.com 25" press return then type HELO somemadeupdomain.com press return you should see a message back saying hello back to you |
Re: NTL SMTP dead again
possibly a silly question, apologies is that's the case, but the account name prompted my curiosity - it is an NTL account you are trying to send from, isn't it?
- its just you can receive any ISP's mail on NTL's POP server, but can only send from an NTL account - as I say, sorry if you already know that ;) |
Re: NTL SMTP dead again
Definite problem here, it says : Connecting to smtp.ntlworld.com...could not open connection to the host, on port 25: connect failed
|
Re: NTL SMTP dead again
do you have a firewall or a router? if so it looks like one of those is blocking port 25...

Re: NTL SMTP dead again
I use Zone Alarm, and up to half an hour ago, I was happily sending out emails with no problems, in fact since I installed Zonealarm in 2002. And I can send mails using other smtps, so don't think the fault is down this end.

Re: NTL SMTP dead again
Well problem "solved", I just rang NTL fault reporting and a recorded message says "fault for sending emails". QED, if only they would just put the fault on the server status for everybody to view.
Update: Just come on to the server status page. |
