Remote to control STB in other room?
I have my NTL rigged up so that I can watch it in my bedroom.
At the moment I have to use a combination of setting up reminders and my legs to change channels. Is there a remote only solution for NTL? Thanks a lot. |

Perhaps I should have made myself clearer.
I want a remote extender only. Not a sender with remote extender and not an all for one type thing either. I have found something anyway. The Digieye remote control extender. |

It's OK with the Samsung, but more particular as to where the sender unit and receiver unit is placed. It's almost as if the signal sent is too strong. If I point the remote directly at the sender, it don't work normally, if I angle the remote to the sender, it works, somehow. |
Re: Remote to control STB in other room?
It all depends on which box you have. If it's a Pace 4001, 4010 or Samsung then you can use any videosender. It doesn't matter that you aren't sending video, you're just using the reverse path for the remote control signals. Alternatively, use a normal remote control extender (in particular the AV08554)
Things are more complicated if it's a Pace 1000, 1010, 2000 or 4000. These use an unusual infra-red signal protocol, based on the IRDA standard. To get this to work you'll need either: 1) a DigiEye DG100DE: http://www.digisender.net/dg100de.htm or 2) any videosender or remote extender plus a RedEye infra-red translator: http://www.redremote.co.uk/ Perhaps, one day NTL might get their act together and release the RIR100 |

Yep to clarify it's the DigiEye DG1000E I've got that worked well with the PACE 1000 but not quite so well with the Samsung, presumably because the Samsung uses standard infra red rather than IRDA signals.
