E.g. the NEC 3520 Dual Layer is only £38.50 + VAT http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatal...RW_Drives.html (don't take that as a recommendation to buy anything from OCuK from me, it's just an example of current prices) The Samsung one that Aldi are selling is only £39 inc. vat at Overclockers. |

Re: Aldi special offers from 13th January
Yep, component prices have been steadily falling, which is why even though manufacturers like Dell , Time  , PC World    etc... have reduced their prices considerably, it's still worth sourcing individual components yourself as you cna save a packet!

Re: Aldi special offers from 13th January
Yes, you can get most components cheaper on line but some people prefer not to go down this avenue. Carriage charges can push online prices up a bit and there can be a problem with somebody being available to receive the goods. Some people like the convenience of having a physical store there in case of problems having read of horror stories in trying to get credit for faulty goods. A further point is that some people are a bit dubious about buying goods with a 3 year warranty online just in case the online store ceases to exist within that period. I nearly always buy online myself but many don't, hence the success of places like PC World.
