Web Mail won't forward

After persistent problems with ntl WebEdge, I have switched to Gmail (thanks to invites from Chimaera and debsy42).

I set ntl WebEdge to forward my mail to my new Gmail account. I have tried "Forward and keep a copy" and "Forward and delete". The forwarding address in Options, Forwarding, is correct - copied and pasted from Gmail and it works if I then paste the same text in and send a message.

It won't do it. Nothing at all is forwarded. For a relative newbie this is a pain. What else should I do to forward mail?

you need to go to this url and forward yuor mails on here

http://selfcare.ntlworld.com/cgi-bin/frontend

rather than doing it from the options setting of webmail.

Where did you try to forward your email?

If you have an ntlworld account you need to click the 'Forward email ...' link on this page http://www.ntlworld.com/help/support...ail_manage.php

There is planned maintenance being carried out today on ntls email...maybe this is affecting it?

Email maintenance.

Detail
Essential work on the ntlworld email storage servers between 01:00 and 05:00 on Tuesday the 11/01/05 will result in some customers being unable to check email for the duration of the work. Any emails sent to your account during this time will be available to download shortly after the work has completed.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

The first email just arrived, over four hours late. I didn't even think of looking at the server status - sorry.

However, I'm still dumping WebEdge as my email service. Probably the worst email client I've used.

Thanks everyone. Sorry to have taken your time, probably unnecessarily.

sherer - I did that. Thanks. :tu:

However, the question does spring to mind - if the options page forwarding on WebEdge doesn't work, and I have to go to the link you posted, why is it there?

How many other people, who don't know the link, get hacked off by selecting Forwarding, only to find that nothing ever happens?
