Switching STB (Pace) Hampshire

I have my original STB from 4 years ago, and to be honest it has never been right. Channel hopping takes a few seconds which is a real pain. Well when a neighbour left the area he left me his NTL box. I thought I would test this out to see if channel hopping was quicker. It was.

Well I could only do this for the free channels because when I put my card in the new box it said the box was not registered to the card.

It takes weeks to get an engineer round, and I don't want to take time off work. How can I make the later STB recognise my card so I can get all my additional channels?

TIA

Simply put, it won't. The box and card are tied at manufacture and you can't retie to another box (apart from anything else it'll cause me extreme pain trying to track the thing, but that's another issue).

Feel free to phone an engineer, but be aware that if there's nothing actually wrong with your box, the call out will cost you money. You can give the other box back to him, though.

To clarify, the STBs are owned by NTL and, contractually, your neighbour should have returned his to them when moving out of the area.

It also states that it is down to the customer to make sure of the safe return to ntl.....although ntl do have a contract firm to do this, it is still in your T & C's to return all ntl rented equipment (stb and sacm)
