SPV c500 phone sharing its GPRS connection with a IPAQ 5550?
I've recently bought a SPV c500 :)
...but I can't fathom how to get a GPRS connection on my IPAQ using bluetooth. Does anyone know of a step by step guide on sorting everything IPAQ wise? |
Re: SPV c500 phone sharing its GPRS connection with a IPAQ 5550?
The Ipaq needs to pair with it and realise it can act as a modem, the phone should tell you that.
The Ipaq then needs to know to 'dial' that connection and off you go. Perhaps if you searched on your forums you might find a thread of a similar vein :) Maybe a search for "GPRS Connection" (sorry couldn't resist the :D take) http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/sh...prs+connection Finds this post... http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/sh...9&postcount=19 or to save a click If you're looking to use your GPRS-enabled mobile phone as a modem (to connect to the Internet from a laptop or a PDA over infrared or Bluetooth), here's what you need to know: From the laptop / PDA, you need to create a dial-up connection, and enter a dialup phone number of *99# If you have more than one GPRS connection set up on your handset, you may need to add an additional string in the "dial-string" settings field, to select which APN to connect to. The standard string is: need to enter a dial-up +CGDCONT =1,"IP","apn.address" - you should substitute apn.address with the name of the GPRS APN that you wish to connect to (see the table above) When you first connect, you'll probably be asked for a username and password - refer to the information above for the username and passwords of the UK GPRS APNs Other network specific information on this page as long as GPRS is working on the phone, the PC is just making a connection between the two, the phone is negotiating the networked GPRS part. http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html |

Usually the number to dial is *99# if that helps?

Its worth noting that there is a modem ocnfiguration file in the root of your CD that came with the C500. More use for laptops me thinks.

Thanks for the help, but I did all this already ...apart from the extreme of editing the dial-string.
Anyway, I decided to do a complete hard reset of my Ipaq and bam!...it worked first time...bloody computers! :) |
